Since it’s founding, The Wealshire has been recognized as one of the premier Alzheimer and dementia communities, specifically designed, built and staffed to serve the special needs of these residents. The Ponds provides assisted living to residents with early and mild dementia.

Unique Household Living

Our unique living concept is based on small groups living in household units that surround a "hub" for common activities. The hub is appointed with fixtures, furniture and casual spaces that feel like a home, providing cues that give comfort and warmth.

At the Wealshire, residents in each hub area have common abilities in which residents are challenged but not overwhelmed.

High Staff-to-Resident Ratio

The staff-to-resident ratio is three times greater then ordinary nursing homes and the staff is continually trained in the latest techniques in working with Alzheimer residents.

A Meaningful Focus to Each Day

Activity-focused care programs are customized to each resident's ability to participate. This includes music therapy, word games, work groups, laugh groups, pet therapy, movies, interfaith chapel, ice cream socials and barbecues in the courtyards.

Extra Services Without Extra Charges

One room rate includes services that other facilities charge extra for, such as meal time assistance, personal laundry, and common medical supplies.

Parkinson's Program

The Wealshire's Parkinson's Disease Care Program is tailored to the needs of those afflicted with the illness. As a result, residents maximize their independence with the support of a well educated staff and appropriate rehabilitative modalities.

Each resident participates in a highly individualized treatment program that is carried out by a staff trained to be attentive to:

• Precise on-time delivery of medication
• Providing visual cues to cut down on freezing episodes.
• Dietary consultation for those who are protein sensitive
• Close monitoring of motor and behavior functioning.
