Many visitors ask us, "what does Wealshire mean"? Wealshire (pronounced "well-shire") is a combination of 2 words. "Weal" (old English) stands for prosperity, happiness and the welfare of a community, whereas "shire" is derived from the town in which we're located -- "Lincolnshire." Shire is also the old English term for the modern day word "village or small city." Much of Lincolnshire is reminiscent of the old English Shakespearian times, with street names like Olde Half Day Road. Thus, the name Wealshire means "a community of well being." We strive to be just that - a community that unites a close-knit family of residents, a safe haven where your loved ones can enjoy the comforts of home. As a family-owned and run establishment, that spirit is conveyed in everything we do, right down to the symbol of the Wealshire. The Wealshire logo depicts an overview of two people, with a circle inside representing the head of an individual who is in need of care. The near-complete circle surrounding this person symbolizes the hands of the caregiver encompassing and offering physical, emotional and spiritual comfort to the one inside. Like its namesake and logo, the staff members at The Wealshire strive to be the helpful hands of one good human being to another - extending nurturing, care and empathy in times of need.
