Blake's Mama Mia Italian Fiesta coming February 24, at 11:30am

On Wednesday the 21st of January the Blake Household was the setting for Blake's 1st in-house outing.

The Blake Activity room was decorated with Chinese décor in recognition of January being Chinese New Yearr.

The tables were set-up adorned with red table cloths, red luncheon plates, and red dining utensils, red and gold Chinese designed napkins which had written inscriptions symbolizing the "Year of Prosperity". There was authentic Chinese music and chopsticks for residents use.

The activity dept. named the outing and dining room "Blake's Eastern Garden".

Activity staff drove to Libertyville to purchase buffet lunches for carry-out and served all entrées and appetizers restaurant-style from Chinese serving plates brought in by their staff from home.

There was an extensive menu, starting with residents having a choice of won ton soup or egg drop soup. Next appetizers were served with a selection of crab ragoon, egg rolls, pot stickers, chicken rumaki and steamed dumplings.

There was quite an assortment of entrees served such as beef with broccoli, crab / shrimp with stir fried Chinese vegetables, sweet & sour chicken and shrimp, general tsos chicken, breaded shrimp, steamed green beans, broccoli and mushrooms, white rice, vegetable fried rice, lo mein noodles and rice sticker noodles.

Staff and resident's had authentic Chinese tea served in authentic tea pots as well as assorted soft drinks.

For dessert there was a choice of 6 assorted cakes and cookies.

Our next in-house outing will take place in February where we will go Italian style.
