News Creative and Successful Alzheimer's Activities Last month, Juanita Diamondopoulos and Shari Floss were asked to lead an activities table for the Illinois Council on Long Term Care Alzheimer's Council Seminar: "Creative and Successful Alzheimer's Activities." The main idea for this seminar was to share creative ideas through demonstration and discussion by activity professions on the following topics: arts and crafts, creative foods, computer activities, horticulture programs, "activities on a dime," men's programs, pet therapy and creative storytelling. Shari Floss, Assistant Administrator at The Wealshire and The Ponds, wrote the presentation for Men's Programs for the seminar entitled, "This Only Applies to Guys." Juanita Diamondopoulos, our Activity Director, presented on December 5th, 2007. Not only did she utilize the written program, but she brought a multitude of sensory-themed memory boxes to share with the participants. From all accounts, it was a very informative and fun experience. By the way, Shari Floss and Jennifer Bebinger, Administrator and COO, are both long time members of the Alzheimer's Council of the Illinois Council on Long Term Care. This February, the Council will meet to plan the upcoming educational plans for 2008. By staying on the forefront of education, The Wealshire and The Ponds continue to provide excellent and innovative programming for all of the individuals who live in our community.
